The brief

A tight bathroom in St John's Wood NW8 that had to feel bigger than it is. The brief was a walk-in shower rather than a bath, nothing bulky standing on the floor, and as few visible joints and trims as possible.

The work

We stripped the room out, tanked the shower zone and fitted a low-profile tray with a frameless glass screen. Large-format stone-effect porcelain was run across walls and floor so the pattern carries through, with a recessed niche formed in the shower wall and tiled on the same setting-out. The vanity, WC and concealed cistern were all hung off a framed wall, and a heated towel rail plumbed in on the return.

The result

A calm, continuous room with nothing standing on the floor — easy to clean under, and the tiling reads as one surface rather than a grid of small panels.
