The brief

A bungalow in Bricket Wood AL2 with a mix of bare brick, old pebbledash and patched cement render — different finishes on every elevation and none of them in good condition. The brief was one consistent, low-maintenance finish all the way round.

The work

We stripped the failed render back to a sound background, made good the brickwork and applied a base coat with mesh reinforcement over the whole building, including the returns and reveals. A through-coloured silicone topcoat was applied in white — the colour runs through the material, so chips don't show and it doesn't need repainting. The plinth was finished in a dark contrasting render with a bell-cast bead at the junction, and a red trim line set in between the two.

The result

One clean finish across every elevation, with the dark base grounding the building and hiding splashback from the drive — and nothing to repaint for years.
