This Health and Safety Policy outlines our approach to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment in compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and all other relevant legislation.

Scope

This policy applies to all Maycor Building Services employees, subcontractors, suppliers, and any persons affected by our work activities across project sites and offices.

Objectives

  • To identify, assess, and control risks associated with our construction activities.
  • To provide adequate training, information, and supervision to all employees.
  • To maintain a safe working environment, including safe equipment, tools, and systems of work.
  • To comply with legal requirements, codes of practice, and client safety standards.
  • To monitor, review, and improve our health and safety performance continuously.

Responsibilities

5.1 Management Responsibilities

  • Implement this policy at all organizational levels.
  • Allocate resources for health and safety initiatives, including training and equipment.
  • Review safety procedures regularly and ensure legal compliance.
  • Appoint qualified individuals to manage health and safety matters.

5.2 Employee Responsibilities

  • Follow all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Report hazards, accidents, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • Use equipment in accordance with training and instructions.
  • Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

5.3 Subcontractor Responsibilities

  • Comply with Maycor’s health and safety requirements.
  • Provide proof of training, qualifications, and insurance.
  • Work in a manner that does not endanger themselves or others.

Risk Assessment and Hazard Control

  • Conduct risk assessments prior to any site work.
  • Identify and mitigate hazards using control measures.
  • Review assessments regularly and after any incidents.

Training and Competence

  • Deliver induction training to new staff and subcontractors.
  • Provide ongoing training to ensure updated safety knowledge.
  • Ensure supervisors hold qualifications like SMSTS and First Aid.

Incident Reporting and Investigation

  • Establish clear reporting procedures for incidents and near-misses.
  • Investigate incidents to determine root causes and actions.
  • Maintain records of all incidents for compliance purposes.

Emergency Procedures

  • Develop site-specific emergency plans and evacuation routes.
  • Ensure all workers understand emergency protocols.
  • Conduct regular emergency drills to test preparedness.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Provide PPE at no cost to all employees.
  • Regularly inspect, maintain, and replace PPE.
  • Ensure PPE is worn properly by all workers at all times.

Occupational Health

Consultation and Communication
